Bettah Balanced Boston

My city councilor John Tobin has another new video blog up. This one is just a collection of outtakes from video past. Not much new. Again we get to see Tobin’s superb taste in ties (except for the pink one with red stripes. I think that’s the only tie I’ve ever seen him wear that just doesn’t work for me.) especially the tried-and-true Boston Celtics green. Boston councilors should just wear green ties. Period.

Anyway. Couple of fun take-away quotes from Tobin in this latest entry:

"I’m a Boston City Councilor, obviously in Boston Massachusetts, the United States."

As opposed to the Boston Massachusetts outside of the United States? Heee. Cute. Very cute. And in discussing an arts program for kids, Tobin says in a VERY THICK Boston accent that:

"[art} makes for a bettah balanced kid and a bettah balanced Boston."

I dunno. Personally I think that would make a great bumper sticker. Bettah Balanced Boston.

MarykateMy very favorite Boston City Councilor John Tobin put up a new Video blog the other day where he heads down to the Theatre District to talk about the progress and plans for a Boston Walk of Fame.

First of all. I ADORE these video blogs. If Steve Garfield ever stops doing them, I think I’ll die. I love them, I love Steve Garfield, I love politics, I love John Tobin and I love his ties.

So of course I watched this episode like five times.

Here’s the take-aways:

– Again, it’s a great tie. This time it’s a red (so daring in the heart of a blue state John!) with blue/white diagonal stripe. Spiffy. It’s a spiffy tie.

– John Tobin actually uttered the name, "Mary-Kate." I think my US Weekly reading self may just faint. Love it.

– He finds a great way to work "the kids" into the video by saying, "it’s a travesty that we cut the arts budgets for school kids." It’s like by not funding the Walk of Fame, we’re stealing crayons for kindergartners.

– There are a lot of great b-roll shots that show once again how frikken photogenic the City of Boston is. You try getting a bad shot of the Swan Boats.

– And. Best part of this, like 3-minute clip, is that John Tobin, rock star that he is. Utters this EXACT quote. Trust me. I rewound it five times so I could take it down:

"When was the last time you drove by Cheers and didn’t see some guy from Kansas and his family out in front there posing in front of the sign. The show’s been off the air since 1993 for cryin out loud."

Best. Boston Councilman. Evah.
